Court Hours:
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday
- All
persons and property entering the Family Court on the 4th floor of the
19th Judicial Courthouse Building are subject to inspection by security
personnel, including metal detector, X-ray of personal items, visual
and physical inspections. Weapons are prohibited.
- Reasonable
accommodations will be made to assist those persons with a disability
who require assistance. Please call ahead at (225) 389-4681.
- Proper attire is required. No tank tops,
muscle shirts, cutoffs, shorts, or caps.
Self-Help
Resource Center Hours:
10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Tuesdays & Thursdays
- The
Self-Help Resource Center (SHRC) is a legal information and self-help
assistance desk designed to serve as a starting point for people who
must navigate an unfamiliar and complex court system to resolve legal
problems on their own. Volunteers staff the SHRC and provide a number
of
services to self-represented litigants including:
- Assistance
with court forms
- Facilitated
use of www.LawHelp.org/LA
- Referrals
to free legal aid services
- Access
to case information through Clerk's website
- Answers
to general inquiries about Family Court
- SHRC
volunteers do not provide legal advice. SHRC is a self-help center
where volunteers facilitate the use of legal resources, but cannot give
legal advice.
- The
SHRC is located on the Fourth Floor in the Family Court
